Badarmudhe incident commemorated

Chitwan, June 6 –  Eight years have passed by since the infamous Badarmudhe incident in which 38 people including three army personnel lost their lives.

However, the suffering of the victims of that incident that took place during the conflict period has still to be ameliorated.

The incident was carried out by the then Maoist rebels. As many as 75 people were critically injured in this incident in which then Maoist rebels set off a landmine and a bus packed with people was ambushed.

A condolence meeting was held here on the bank of the Badarmudhe River in the memory of those who lost their lives in the incident.

The relatives of those who died in the incident will light lamps at the monument site built by Nepal Army, wishing for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

The bus (Na.2 Kha. 3245) heading to Bharatpur from Madi Ayodhyapuri-9 hit a landmine planted by the then Maoist on the dry river bed at Badarmudhe on

6 June 2005 resulting in the casualties.

Mukti Neupane, president of the Victim and Injured Committee lamented upon the negligence in taking action against the culprits of the incident.
