Kamlari strike hits normal life in terai for 3rd day as well
Dang, June 6 – The general strike enforced by the Freed Kamlari Struggle Committee, in 22 districts of the west Tarai has affected normal life in the district. The strike is being held since 2 days ago and is being followed today as well.
The Freed Kamlaris Struggle Committee has called for an indefinite general strike in the district demanding impartial investigation into the murder of one Kamlari in Lalitpur and into the incidents of sexual abuse against them in different districts.
The committee has called for an indefinite general strike protesting what it called the police highhandedness in the peaceful demonstration by the freed Kamlaris. The general strike is also to pressurize the government to fulfill their various demands.
