National development not possible sans private sector

Bhadrapur, May 29 –  Former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Kush Kumar Joshi, said physical infrastructure development was not possible in the country just by following government policies and regulations.

He stressed the need of encouraging investment in the hydropower production; road construction and other infrastructure development in coordination with private sector.

Speaking at a programme organized by the Mechi Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Tuesday, he said the existing problems in the economic sector could be resolved utilizing the internal labour, skills and financial investment instead of just looking for aid from foreign nations and agencies.

Former President Joshi said they have planned to construct the Kathmandu-Kulekhani Tunnel Highway to shorten the six-hour long journey to just one hour.

He also expressed commitment to construct 25 MW power in Lamjung and 10 MW power from Bahundangi based Siddi canal within the next four years.

He said the FNCCI was committed to resolving the load-shedding problem, to implement the one-door policy in commerce and industry sector, and to link Mechinagar area with India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh for increasing economic activities. RSS
