Ex CA member Haque found murdered in Saptari

Saptari, May 21 –  A former lawmaker has been found murdered in his residence in Rajbiraj of Saptari district on Monday.

Police said Shardul Miya, 50, an independent former lawmaker, was murdered using sharp weapon while he was sleeping in his residence nearby the petrol pump he ran in Kishanpur Chowk of Kalyanpur VDC at around 1 am. Miya’s throat was found slit.

Police said they are investigating the case to find the motive behind the murder as well as those involved in killing Miya.

Miya was elected from Saptari constituency number 5 as an independent candidate in the election of 2064 BS.

Meanwhile, locals have obstructed the east-west highway in Saptari district demanding that those involved in the murder of Miya be arrested and tried. They have also not allowed the police to take Miya’s body for postmortem.
