NA soldier killed in Lebanon

The Army said on Sunday that a Nepali soldier working for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was killed on Thursday, May 16.
The body of Sargent Deepak Thama, who died while fulfilling his duty, was brought to Nepal earlier on Sunday, said the army's Directorate of Public Relations.
Established in 1978, UNIFIL is tasked with ensuring that the area between the so-called Blue Line – separating Israel and Lebanon – and the Litani River is free of unauthorised weapons, personnel and assets. It also cooperates with the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) so they can fulfill their security responsibilities.
A programme was organised in the capital to pay last respects to Thama. The function was attended by army officials and representatives of the UN mission in Nepal, and Thama's kin.
NA has condoled the soldier's death and expressed its respect to the sacrifice he made. According to the force, 59 Nepali soldiers have died serving in various UN missions across the world.
