Chairman Regmi continues marathon talks with parties
Kathmandu, May 16 – The Chairman of Interim Election Council (IEC), Khil Raj Regmi, gave continuity to talks with various political parties on Thursday as well.
Chairman Regmi held discussions with Federal Democratic Front led by Upendra Yadav. The Front includes Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal, National Madhes Socialist Party, and Tamsaling Nepal Party, among others.
During the meeting held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar, they talked on Constituent Assembly (CA) elections, number of proportional seats in the CA, and limitation for threshold, among others, said Press Coordinator of IEC Chairman Regmi, Rajendra Prasad Pandey.
At the meeting, IEC Chairman Regmi urged the agitating political parties to join the election process postponing their programmes of protests.
In response, the leaders demanded that IEC Chairman should resign as a Chief Justice, not decrease the proportional seats as compared to the earlier CA, scrap the four-party high level mechanism, and re-delineation of constituency numbers on the basis of population, among others, Chairman of the Madhesi Socialist Party, Sharatsingh Bhandari told journalists.
IEC Chairman Regmi met collectively Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Pashupati Shumsher Rana, senior leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand, and Chairman of Rastriya Janashakti Party, Surya Bahadur Thapa.
Chairman Rana said the meeting concentrated on making the total number of CA members 585. RSS
