Nepal Army Major detained by Syrian rebels, released

Kathmandu, May 15 – A Nepal Army Major and two of his colleagues working for a UN mission in Syria were detained for four hours by a rebel group near the country's border with Israel, early on Wednesday.
Nepal Army Spokesperson Suresh Sharma said Major Ujjwal KC and his colleagues with the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), were detained while patrolling the area at around 2 am local time.
The group was later set free at around 6:30 am local time, informed Sharma.
The West-Asian country has been in the grip of violence for over a year as rebels have been battling for control over key cities fighting forces loyal to President Bashar-al-Ashad.
