Crops destroys after Hailstorm in Rasuwa

Nuwakot, May 12 – Hailstorm in Nuwakot, Rasuwa and other hilly districts in the Central Development Region caused damage to agricultural products and other properties, on Saturday evening.

 

The wind blew away roofs of Bigyan Higher Secondary School and Ayurved Office in Narjamandap VDC Ward No. 1 in Nuwakot. Regular classes were disrupted as the wind blew away school building roofs, said Basudev Khanal, of the school.

 

Similarly, the wind uprooted around a dozen electricity poles in the village while it blew away roofs of dozens of private buildings in the district. The hailstones damaged vegetables, and flowering fruits in the district.

 

The hailstones badly threshed the early stage mango, peach, and lichee among other fruits in different VDCs including Kaule, Bhalche, Salme, Manakamana, Kabilas, Thansingh in the district, According to District Police Office.

 

Likewise, the wind and hailstorm caused heavy damages in Laharepauwa, Kalikasthan, Haku, and Dhunche, among other VDCs in Rasuwa district.

 

Also, the hailstorm has damaged agricultural crops and fruits worth Rs. four million in Sindhupalchowk district.

 

Meanwhile, Farmers, who were waiting for rainfall to cultivate different kinds of crops like maize and potato, have felt a relief with the rainfall on Saturday. RSS
