Chinese Educational Expo begins
Kathmandu, May 12 – A day-long Chinese Educational Exhibition is organised here today with an objective of providing information about Chinese Educational System and universities.
Minister for Education, Madhav Prasad Poudel, inaugurated the exhibition jointly organised by the China Scholarship Council under the Chinese Education Ministry, Chinese Embassy in Nepal and Nepal-China Cultural and Educational Council.
Talking about various aspects of relations between Nepal and China, Education Minister Poudel said that Nepal could learn more from the achievements made by China in the educational sector.
He said we could learn more from the development made by China in science and technology and expressed the view that Chinese experience would be supportive to Nepal and Nepalese to provide quality education in the country.
Stating that the educational exhibition would help further strengthen political, cultural and educational relations of both the countries, the Education Minister mentioned that there is a great contribution of those Nepalis, who returned after acquiring higher education in China, in nation building.
On the occasion, Chinese Ambassador Wu Chuntai said that China is being developed as an educational destination for most of the countries in the world and added that the exhibition is organised to provide information about Chinese educational system.
Stating that educational exchange would further strengthen mutual relations existing in government-level, Ambassador Chuntai said such exhibition would help to know each other.
A total of 13 government and private universities of China are participating in the educational expo.
Vice-Chancellors, senior administrators and teachers of the universities are providing information on different issues of their respective universities including characteristics of the universities, scholarships and fees. One can apply for admission in the exhibition itself, it is learnt.
Information including that of medicine, pharmaceuticals, textile in garment, mining technology, post and telecommunications, aeronautical and astronautics, traditional Chinese medicine, information and technology, civil/aviation engineering, foreign trade and science and technology will be provided in the exhibition.
Now, a total of 2,990 Nepalese students are pursuing higher education in China, according to information provided in the programme.
