Banda hits normal life in Tarai

Birgunj, May 12 – Normal life in southern plains of the country is crippled with the shutdown enforced by Sadbhavana Party putting froth different 10-point demands since early this morning.
The party has demanded the immediate announcement of date for fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
The hardest hit from the general strike are people belonging to Birgunj and surrounding areas. With the long-route and short-route vehicles brought to a complete standstill, passengers have to suffer much being stranded on the way to their destination.
However, the shutdown has no effect in schools operation there. 'We are firm to our belief that the schools are peace zone so we allow schools to operate their classes smoothly', said Nijamuddin Samani, central member the party.
The general strike has also adversely affected local industries in Birgunj and adjoining area.
