Govt should play active role in utilising remittance: Govenor Khatiwada

Kathmandu, May 8 – Govt should play active role in utilising remittance: Govenor Khatiwada  Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Yuba Raj Khatiwada has said the government should play vital role in the proper utilisation of the remittance for the economic development of the country. 

Speaking at a programme organised by South Asian Institute for Policy Analysis and Leadership (SAIPAL) in Lalitpur Tuesday to publicise a research 'Remittances Policies and Programmes in Nepal', the NRB Governor said that since remittance has been instrumental in running majority of the Nepali households, it must remain a government priority.

On the occasion, Gyan Chandra Acharya, UN Under Secretary General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States said that as the remittances have certain share in the national economy it should be utilised for economic development of the country.
