Ktm valley faces book shortage problem
Kirtipur, May 7– Teachers and students in Kathmandu valley are facing problems due to shortage of school textbooks even after three weeks have passed since the beginning of the new academic session.
The problem surfaced after textbooks of some subjects to be taught in community schools were not available in the markets so far even after classes have been already started.
Classes of community schools have not moved ahead as expected due to shortage of textbooks and there is a dilemma among the students.
A guardian Shyam Krishna KC of Kalanki said that problem of textbook shortage rises every year though the government expresses commitment every year that there will be no shortage of textbooks next year.
KC said that textbook shortage at the beginning of the academic session is the main cause behind the decreasing number of students at community schools every year.
From textbook shortage in the capital, one can easily suppose the situation of textbook shortage out of the valley, he added.
Sharada Bhattarai, a teacher of Champadevi Secondary School, Kathmandu, said that textbook shortage has affected both teachers and students.
Rohitram Regmi, the principal of Ekantakuna-based Mahendra Bhrikuti Secondary School, said that problem of textbook shortage should be resolved soon to maintain educational quality in the school-level. RSS
