Minister Koirala calls on ADB to increase investment in hydropower

Kathmandu,May 5 – Finance Minister Shankar Koirala has urged the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to focus on big hydropower projects in Nepal.
Addressing the 46th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in New Delhi Koirala also said the government would provide a favourable policy environment for foreign investment.
As the government's focus is on development of hydropower, aviation, tourism and commercialisation of agriculture, Koirala said that the government has adopted a policy to attract foreign investment in such sectors.
On the occasion, the minister praised the vital support of the international agency, which is one of the major donors to Nepal, in reduction of poverty.
Earlier, Koirala had urged ADB country Director for Nepal Kenichi Yokoyama to increase the bank's finacial assistance — not loans
