HSEB exam begins from today

Kathmandu, April 30 – This year’s higher secondary level examinations are beginning across the country on April 30 and May 14 respectively.


As many as 833,133 students—435,018 from grade 11 and 398,115 from grade 12—are participating in the 20th version of the examination conducted by the Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB). Of total grade 12 students, 242,324 are from the regular category while 155,791 will attend the tests under the partial category. Similarly, 265,457 students sitting for grade 11 examinations are regular examinees while remaining 169,561 are from the partial category.

Altogether, 932 examination centers have been allocated for the examinees from 3,596 schools across the country. He said 932 superintendents, 1,241 assistant superintendents, 12,506 invigilators, 11,184 security personnel and 1,925 helpers will be mobilised during the examinations.

The HSEB has divided the examination centres into 15 categories based on their previous records on conducting examinations in a disciplined manner. Based on complaints about cheating and other malpractices, the board has decided to have special monitoring in 16 districts mainly from the central and eastern Tarai region.

The board has also decided to form separate layers of mechanism at the district, regional and central levels for effective monitoring. Similarly, a coordination committee has been formed under the chief district officer in each district to maintain law and order during examinations.
