Apex court stops implementation of tougher driving license trial

Kathmandu, April 26 – The Supreme Court on Thursday stopped the implementation of the newly introduced driving licence trial till next hearing.
A single bench of Justice Bharat Bahadur Karki issued the stay order responding to a writ petition against the new trial system. The bench stayed the implementation of the new system till April 30, stating that a hearing will then be conducted on whether or not to continue the stay order.
Demanding that previous system for obtaining driving licence be continued, Creative Driving School had filed the petition against the new system for obtaining license.
Claiming that it was of international standard, the Department of Transport Management had enforced a new requirement of acquiring driving license. However, it is learnt that the newly introducted license driving trial is very difficult with the provision of passing through the trial test in an ’8′ shape instead of the ‘T’ shape earlier including slopes, U-turn and rough roads.
