Nepse gains 7.47 points

Kathmandu, April 14 – The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) last week gained 7.47 points to close at 523.38 points on Thursday. The market had opened at 515.91 points on Sunday.

Over the four trading days, the market shed points on Monday, but the loss was neutralized by the gains in the last two days.

Seven out of nine trading groups registered gains, with the insurance companies group being the top gainer. The group’s sub-index increased 14.74 points to reach 904.62 points. Commercial banks (up 10.1 points) and hotels (up 9.63 points) stood second and third, respectively. Other gainers of the week were hydropower companies, others and development banks.

Last week, Bank of Kathmandu posted the highest transaction amount (Rs 25.76 million). Siddhartha Investment Growth Plan topped in terms of the number of shares traded (417,500 units), and Civil Bank topped in terms of the number of transactions (699).

Last week’s losers were trading group (down 0.84 points) and finance companies group (down 0.64 points).

The sensitive index, which measures transactions of “A” category companies, increased 1.85 points to close at 132.11 points.

The secondary market witnessed a turnover of Rs 302.45 million—down from the previous week’s turnover of 412.58 million. Total number of shares traded was at 1,315,215 units—down from 1,410,085 units in the previous week.
