FSU election to be held on june 6

Kathmandu, April 6 – The elections of the Free Students Union (FSU) in government colleges are scheduled to be held on June 6.

The Tribhuvan University (TU) Executive Council announced the poll date on Saturday. It has fixed the date after the TU assembly finalised the modality of elections on Friday. The decision has also fixed the age criteria for the election.people above 28 years of age are not allowed for the candidate.

As per the decision, the elections will be conducted under mixed system in which FSU president, secretary and treasurer will be elected directly while the vice president and vice secretary will be picked by the office-bearers.

Likewise, 50 percent union members will be elected directly while the remaining will be elected under the proportional system.

Students unions had carried out a series of protests to pressure the TU administration to announce the date of the elections. Last FSU elections, which are to be held every two years, had taken place nearly four years ago.
