'IT sector should be focused'

KATHMANDU, JULY 14: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), has emphasized the significant potential of the information technology (IT) sector for Nepal's economic development.
Speaking at an international ICT discussion titled "Positioning Nepal as a Global IT Hub" held yesterday in Kathmandu, Dhakal noted Nepal's recent rapid advancements in IT. He suggested the country leverage this progress to benefit from IT industry growth and service exports.
Dhakal highlighted that the youth in Nepal are increasingly engaging with IT through courses and IT-driven enterprises. He mentioned that Nepal currently has around 500 IT companies, which could grow if the government adopts IT-friendly policies and creates an investment-friendly environment.
