Plywood and veneer worth Rs 3 bln exported to India

KATHMANDU, JULY 28: In the last fiscal year 2023/24, 99,801 metric tons of wooden goods worth Rs. 2.96 billion (2,960,419,400) have been exported to India. Plywood is produced by planting fast-growing plants such as Alder in the farmlands of the eastern hills in Nepal. Veneer wood is produced from wooden boards. The veneer wood is processed to make plywood for furniture and other wooden items.
During the same period, 21,994 metric tons of veneer worth Rs. 241 million were exported to India, said Plant Quarantine Office Kakarvitta information officer Chandreshwar Yadav. He further shared that plywood worth Rs. 2.71 billion has been exported to India during the same period
