Birgunj Transport Office collects Rs 1.5 billion in revenue

BIRGUNJ, SEPTEMBER 3: The Transport Management Office in Birgunj collected more than Rs 1.5 billion in revenue during the last fiscal year 2023/24 This marks an increase of Rs 171.9 million compared to the previous fiscal year 2022/23, when the office collected Rs 1.35 billion.
Chief of the Transport Management Office, Kamal Raj Gautam, described the revenue collection as encouraging. Of the total revenue, Rs 1.19 billion was collected from vehicles, while vehicle permits generated an additional Rs 150 million.
In the last fiscal, a total of 2,229 vehicles, including buses, trucks, and machinery, were registered. Additionally, 645 vehicles such as cars, jeeps, microbuses, and ambulances were registered during the same period.
The office also registered 747 motorcycles and scooters last year, bringing the total number of new vehicle registrations for the fiscal year to 38,456.
