Manakamana Cable Car to resume its operations digitally from today

MUGLING, SEPTEMBER 17: The Manakamana Cable Car is set to resume regular operations starting today. Operated by Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., Nepal's first cable car will now utilize 'digital' technology. The service had been suspended since July 15 for upgrades, including the replacement of the main cable. Ujwal Sherchan, Deputy General Manager of Manakamana Darshan Pvt. Ltd., announced that the cable car, which has been operating on 'analogue' technology for 26 years, has now been successfully upgraded to a 'digital' system.
The transformation to digital was completed under the supervision of engineers and technicians from Austria's Doppelmayr company. The cable car service was originally introduced on November 23, 1998, to provide easier access for pilgrims visiting the famous Manakamana Temple in the Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality of Gorkha. The cable car’s bottom station is located at Cheres in Chitwan’s Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality-4.
