Shah family annunces Rs 4 crore support to KIOCH

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 1: The family of Vijay Kumar Shah, a renowned businessman, pledged Rs. 40 million to support the construction of the Pediatric Surgery Intensive Care Unit (PSICU) and Day Care Surgery Floor at the Kathmandu Institute of Child Health (KIOCH).
This contribution is expected to help enhance children's healthcare in Nepal by providing critical care for young patients undergoing major surgeries. In recognition of the Shah family’s support, the PSICU and Day Care Surgery Floor will be named the RUSLAN PSICU.
On Sunday ( 29th September), the Shah family made an initial personal donation of Rs. 10 million to KIOCH facilitated through their non-profit organization, JGI Nepal Foundation (JGINF). The remaining Rs. 3 crores will also be disbursed from their personal finances as the project progresses, with JGINF assisting in the facilitation.
This donation is said to be sourced entirely from Shah's personal, tax-paid funds, independent of any company or CSR budgets. Notably, Shah has been recognized three times as a top taxpaying individual in the country
The new PSICU and Day Care Surgery unit will provide specialized intensive care for pediatric patients.
