Water supply services in Lalitpur will resume within 15 days, Minister Yadav says

PATAN (LALITPUR), October 16 : Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has announced that repair and maintenance of the Nallu, Basuki, and Devaki water supply projects will be completed within 15 days. His remarks came after inspecting the damaged water sources in Godavari Municipality, Lalitpur on Tuesday.
The water supply system in Godavari was disrupted by flooding and landslides caused by heavy rains on September 27 and 28, damaging key infrastructure.
"Today, we assessed the situation at the water source areas," Minister Yadav said. "A team including the Director General of the Department of Forests, the Chief of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), and technical experts from our ministry visited the sites. They will soon prepare a report with cost estimates, and repair work will begin immediately upon submission."
Emphasizing that water is a fundamental right, Minister Yadav directed officials to restore the local water supply system within three days through coordination between federal, provincial, and local governments and technical agencies.
He also stressed the government’s sensitivity toward the challenges faced by locals, highlighting the need for sustainable infrastructure and long-term planning to prevent similar disasters in the future.
Minister Yadav was accompanied by Udaya Shumsher Rana, a lawmaker from Lalitpur constituency no. 1, along with Rishidev Phuyal, Chief of the Lalitpur District Coordination Committee, Mayor Gajendra Maharjan, Deputy Mayor Muna Adhikari, and officials from KUKL, the Department of Water Supply, and the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management.
