Nepal to import 200,000 metric tonnes of wheat from India

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 18: To address the rising demand for wheat in the local market, the government has decided to import wheat from India. The initiative follows complaints of price hikes, which were attributed to limited supply. Baburam Adhikari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, stated that coordination with the Indian government is underway to facilitate the import. He further mentioned that the Indian authorities have responded positively to the arrangement.
Additionally, the Ministry has urged industrialists not to raise the prices of wheat-based products, warning that anyone found creating artificial shortages to manipulate prices will face penalties.
