RSP chair Lamichhane arrested
He is accused of illegally transferring deposits from several cooperative institutions to Gorkha Media

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 18: Rabi Lamichhane, the chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been arrested. A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) took him into custody from the party’s office in Banasthali of the capital
The Kaski District Court had issued an arrest warrant to investigate his involvement in the misappropriation of savings from Surya Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative.
Lamichhane is accused of illegally transferring deposits from several cooperative institutions to Gorkha Media, the operating company of Galaxy Television, where he serves as Managing Director. These institutions include Surya Darshan Savings and Credit, Sahara Multipurpose Cooperative, Supreme Savings and Credit, Swarnalakshmi Multipurpose Cooperative, and Saopaila Savings and Credit.
One of the company’s directors, Jitendra Babu (GB) Rai, is currently on the run.
Authorities plan to transfer Lamichhane to Pokhara later today.
