RSP President Lamichhane produced before court
KASKI, OCTOBER 20: Rabi Lamichhane, President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has been presented at the District Court Kaski today following his arrest on charges of misappropriating cooperative funds.
Lamichhane was brought before the court to seek permission for an extension of his custody for further investigation. He was arrested in Kathmandu on Friday and transferred overnight to Pokhara.
RSP leaders, lawmakers, and supporters protested as Lamichhane was escorted to the court. Before departing for the court, Lamichhane stated that he would fully cooperate with the legal process.
The District Police Office Kaski is investigating allegations that Lamichhane illicitly transferred savings from a Pokhara-based cooperative to Gorkha Media Network, in collusion with GB Rai, the cooperative's founding chairperson.
