Construction of Rs 700 million Rara Resort commences
Resort to feature 19 buildings with 62 rooms and a capacity of 98 beds.

KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 22 : Rara Holdings Resort Pvt. Ltd. has obtained initial environmental examination (IEE) approval from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Department of Tourism, for the development of the Rara Resort at Murmatap ( Ward No. 9) in the Chhayanath Rara Municipality of the Mugu district.
The agreement for the project was signed between Australia’s Expert Group and Nepal’s Rara Holdings Pvt. Ltd. during the third Nepal Investment Summit held last August in Kathmandu.
The Department approved the IEE report, submitted under the Environmental Protection Act, 2019, and Environmental Protection Regulations, 2020, for the resort's construction and operation. The resort will feature 19 buildings with 62 rooms and a capacity of 98 beds. With this approval, the construction process has officially commenced.
Environmental self-assessment reports will need to be submitted every six months. The luxury resort, covering 80 ropanis (around 4 hectares) in Murmatap, will require an initial investment of Rs 700 million. Abhishek Bikram Shah of Rara Holdings stated that the resort will be eco-friendly, designed in Nepalese architectural style, and make optimal use of local resources. He further shared that the foundation will be laid soon, with construction proceeding at full speed.
