Govt. to announce sugarcane support price by tomorrow

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 28: Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari has confirmed that the government will announce the sugarcane support price by tomorrow (Friday). During a discussion in the National Assembly's Public Policy and Legislative Committee today, he revealed so by information that the related proposal had already been submitted to the Cabinet.
Minister Adhikari acknowledged the difficulties faced by farmers and reminded that the necessary funds for the support price were allocated in the last Ashoj (mid-September to mid-October). He stated that efforts are being made to provide the support price either this year or by the same time next year.
Additionally, the minister shared updates on the ongoing reforms at the Dairy Development Corporation, stating that a committee has been formed to develop an initial operational plan for the improvements.
He also mentioned that the draft of the Agriculture Act is currently with the Ministry of Law for further review before finalization.
