Paddy production down in Bagmati province

BAGMATI, DECEMBER 22: Paddy production has declined in Bagmati Province this year. According to the Bagmati Province Agriculture Development Directorate, paddy production decreased by 1.37% due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall on September 27-28.
In the current fiscal year, paddy was planted on 105,415 hectares in Bagmati Province, yielding 408,316 metric tons at an average rate of 3.87 metric tons per hectare, stated Nabin Kunwar, an agriculture economist at the Directorate.
In the previous fiscal year (2080/81 BS), paddy cultivation covered 109,151 hectares, producing 413,988 metric tons. However, Kunwar noted that paddy production has increased this year in districts like Chitwan, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Nuwakot compared to last year.
Chitwan, the largest paddy-producing district in Bagmati Province, reported a harvest of 98,355 metric tons at an average rate of 4.15 metric tons per hectare across 23,700 hectares this year.
