Travel advisory issued for Nepalis flying to four nations
These are Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 24: The government has issued a three-point travel advisory for Nepali citizens planning to travel to four countries- Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos.
In a notice released yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Nepali citizens to take necessary precautions while traveling to these countries for foreign employment.
The Ministry highlighted recent reports of human trafficking and criminal activities targeting Nepali nationals, lured by promises of attractive salaries. Victims have been forced into illegal activities and subjected to exploitation.
According to the Ministry, common issues include employers confiscating passports, making employees work 12-13 hours a day, subjecting them to excessive torture, and withholding salaries.
The Ministry has strongly advised against engaging in such illegal activities, emphasizing that they are punishable by law.
"Nepali nationals are requested not to travel on a visit visa for foreign employment purposes and to obtain adequate information about foreign firms, companies, and employers through the relevant Nepali missions abroad," the advisory stated.
Additionally, the Ministry urged individuals to personally verify the credibility of firms, companies, and employers by checking their official websites before accepting any employment offers.
