IME Group constructing cable car in Chisapani of Kailali
The Rs. 5 billion project to offer a host of facilities like resort, hotel, casino, skywalk, etc
KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 29: The groundbreaking ceremony for the Jalpadevi Cable Car project in Karnali Chisapani of Kailali district,has taken place. Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba yesterday inaugurated the 3.1-kilometre-long cable car at a special event in Karnali Chisapani, Ward No. 3 of Lamki Chuha Municipality.
Addressing the gathering, She emphasized that the project would significantly contribute to the economic, social, and cultural progress of the Far-Western Province.
Dr. Deuba stated, "The Far-Western region boasts a rich tapestry of tourism, culture, traditions, and biodiversity. This region's natural resources and assets are as abundant as its people's cultural unity and harmony. The communities in the Far-Western region of the country are also development-oriented."
This cable car project, coupled with a luxurious tourist infrastructure, will be a major milestone in the prosperity of both the Far-Western region and the entire nation."
Dr. Deuba also urged everyone to actively participate in the timely completion of this project, reflecting the cooperative spirit of the people of the Far-Western region. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of timely project completion and encouraged greater investment in tourism and other infrastructure within this region, considering its potential and future needs.
"I extend a warm welcome to the IME Group, a commercial entity known for its construction of cable cars and tourism infrastructure across all seven provinces of Nepal, commencing with Chandragiri in Kathmandu. I sincerely hope that this cable car project is completed on schedule, leveraging your expertise, experience, and capabilities," she expressed.
Minister for Forests and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi, highlighted that the cable car and other accompanying infrastructure would play a pivotal role in the development of the Far-Western Province. Acknowledging the dearth of significant modern development infrastructure in the western part of Nepal, he urged the private sector to actively invest in such infrastructure development endeavors.
"There is a notable scarcity of substantial modern development infrastructure in the Far-Western, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces. We warmly welcome your participation in bringing forth more such infrastructure projects to our region," he stated. He emphasized his commitment to fostering an environment conducive to development rather than hindering it and encouraged the utilization of domestic timber in such development infrastructure.
Chief Minister of the Far-Western Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, asserted that this cable car and resort, strategically located at the gateway to the Far-Western Province in Karnali Chisapani, would effectively promote adventure, religious, and recreational tourism. He conveyed the provincial government's unwavering commitment to providing all possible support to investments and development projects within the province and urged investors to actively strive towards attracting greater investment.
Chandra Prasad Dhakál, the Chairman of Jalpadevi Cable Car Pvt. Ltd., emphasized that tourism holds the key to transforming Nepal's economic, cultural, and social landscape. He stated, "Only through substantial investment in tourism infrastructure can we extend tourist stays, enhance foreign exchange earnings, create more employment opportunities, augment revenue generation, and ultimately achieve the anticipated economic development and prosperity."
He expressed that the groundbreaking of the Jalpadevi Cable Car has infused renewed enthusiasm into his vision of establishing a comprehensive cable car tourism circuit. He further emphasized that the collaborative efforts of the local community, political parties, and government agencies in the groundbreaking and forthcoming construction of this project would serve as a model for other cable car construction endeavors.
The 3.1-kilometer-long cable car, spanning from Chisapani in Ward No. 3 of Lamki Chuha Municipality to Rajkaanda in Ward No. 7 of Mohanyal Rural Municipality, will feature 34 gondolas. With a total investment of Rs. 5 billion, the cable car project will encompass a hotel, casino, and banquet hall at the base station along with cable car. Similarly, the summit station of the project will offer a resort, temple, skywalk, walking trail, restaurant, children's park, and other tourist and recreational amenities.
