Minister Dahal calls for sustainable, quality infrastructure development

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 30: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, emphasized the crucial link between infrastructure development and economic growth. He did so while speaking at a program held here in the capital to mark the 22nd establishment day of the Roads Board Nepal. Recognizing Nepal's ongoing development, the minister stressed the importance of constructing sustainable, safe, and beneficial infrastructure.
Dahal highlighted the Ministry's focus on projects directly impacting people's lives, revenue generation, economic growth, and a wider segment of the population and geography. He emphasized the need to prioritize infrastructure projects strategically.
Furthermore, he directed the Board to promptly address "sick tenders" and accelerate road repairs alongside effective monitoring.
Speaking at the same program, National Planning Commission Vice-Chair Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari echoed the Minister's sentiments, stating that roadways are fundamental to economic growth
. He emphasized the need for expanding road connectivity in a manner that contributes to economic development and growth. Dr. Adhikari also stressed the importance of ensuring stability and quality in infrastructure projects, emphasizing the long-term returns of such investments.
Similarly, Board Executive Director Ganesh KC highlighted the need for the government to grant the Board greater autonomy. The occasion also saw the release of the Board's annual report for the last fiscal year.
