Kaligandaki corridor: Majhibasti-Khaniyaghat section blacktopped

MYAGDI, JANUARY 1: The Majhibasti-Khaniyaghat section of the Maldhunga-Berni road has been successfully blacktopped. The national pride project, the Kaligandaki Corridor, and the Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project made this significant achievement possible.
A two-kilometre stretch, from Majhibasti in Kushma Municipality-1 to Khaniyaghat in Jaljala Rural Municipality-8, has now been paved. Sohanjung Karki, Sub-engineer of the project, revealed that a contract worth Rs 528.6 million was awarded to contractors to upgrade the 13-kilometer Beni-Maldhunga road. This includes widening the road to 11 meters, blacktopping, and proper sloping.
Currently, road expansion, sub-base, base, and grading work are underway on another eight kilometres of this crucial route.
Meanwhile, blacktopping work has also commenced on the Bokse-Sigana road, according to RSS representatives from Galkot, Baglung. The first phase focuses on blacktopping six kilometers of the 10-kilometer road, starting from Bokse. The goal is to complete blacktopping in six locations by mid-April. The contract for blacktopping the entire 10-kilometer stretch was signed at a cost of Rs 293.78 million."**
