Govt. preparing to provide free treatment for brain haemorrhages

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 6: Minister for Health and Population Pradip Paudel announced that the government is working to ensure free treatment for brain haemorrhages. Speaking at the 63rd-anniversary celebration of Kanti Children's Hospital on Monday, the Minister highlighted recent achievements, including the hospital’s initiation of free treatment for childhood cancer.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the hospital, Minister Paudel emphasized his awareness of its physical infrastructure limitations and human resource shortages. He assured the ministry's continued support, commending the hospital for delivering quality healthcare despite limited resources. "This has earned Kanti Children's Hospital a high level of trust," the Minister stated.
During the event, Prof. Dr. RP Bichchha, a member of the National Planning Commission, proposed transforming Kanti Children's Hospital into a Children's Health Institute. Similarly, Shreeram Subedi, Chairman of the Hospital Development Committee, described the institution as a national treasure in the medical field.
Kanti Children's Hospital, established in 2019 BS with a 50-bed facility, is Nepal's only central and referral hospital dedicated to children's health. Today, the hospital operates with 372 beds and provided care to over 180,000 children in the last fiscal year.
