Birgunj sees Rs. 36.96 billion in revenue from petroleum imports

BIRGUNJ (PARSA), JANUARY 23: In the first six months of the current fiscal year, a total of Rs. 87.32 billion worth of diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene were imported through Birgunj, generating a revenue collection of Rs. 36.96 billion.
Compared to the same period last year, revenue from the import of petroleum products has increased by Rs. 4 billion in the current fiscal year’s first half. According to the Birgunj Customs Office, Rs. 18.98 billion in revenue was collected from the import of 479,799 kiloliters of diesel, valued at Rs. 42.24 billion.
During this period, Rs. 12.47 billion was generated from the import of 220,385 kiloliters of petrol.
Additionally, revenue of Rs. 1.01 billion was collected from the import of 89,380 kiloliters of ATF, valued at Rs. 8.09 billion, and Rs. 10 million from the import of 4,020 kiloliters of kerosene, valued at Rs. 36.2 million.
In the first six months of fiscal year 2080/81, petroleum products worth Rs. 88.78 billion were imported. In comparison, during the same period last year, revenue from petroleum imports amounted to Rs. 32.95 billion.
