Stock market down by over 10 points

Share prices of 106 companies advance, 128 decline, and 9 remain unchanged.

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 27: On Monday, the NEPSE index of the stock market declined by 10.61 points, settling at 2,633 points. Alongside the drop in the benchmark index, the total trading volume also decreased. While transactions worth NPR 9.12 billion were recorded on the previous trading day, today's figure stood at NPR 8.92 billion.

The prices of 106 companies advanced, 128 declined, and 9 remained unchanged. Notably, after a significant downturn in the finance sector during the previous session, investor interest shifted positively on Monday. While the finance sector had dropped by 4.76% the prior day, it rebounded by 3.46% today.

The prolonged decline in the valuations of finance companies has created opportunities for buyers, strengthening demand at current price levels.

Sector-wise, development banks rose by 0.72%, hydropower by 0.35%, manufacturing by 0.67%, and microfinance by 0.04%. Conversely, trade declined by 1.83%, the "others" category by 1.66%, non-life insurance by 0.67%, life insurance by 1.10%, investment by 0.77%, hotels and tourism by 0.51%, and banking by 0.55%.
