Nepal Embassy in Oman begins issuing labor permits for Nepali workers

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 5: The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman, has officially begun issuing labour permits to Nepali workers who are legally employed in Oman but did not obtain a permit from Nepal.
The first live enrollment for the legalization of labour permits abroad took place on January 31, 2025, in Salalah, Oman. According to a statement issued by the Embassy on Tuesday, this initiative is expected to provide significant benefits to Nepali workers under the policies of the Government of Nepal.
Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman, Dornath Aryal, expressed confidence that this service would help Nepali workers access various benefits. He also emphasized the importance of social security funds, legal remittance channels, and adherence to the laws, regulations, traditions, and culture of the host country.
On the occasion, the Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment, Surya Bahadur Khatri, congratulated all involved in launching the first-ever labour permit legalization service abroad and highlighted its significance.
Nepali workers present at the event welcomed the Embassy’s efforts, as it regularly provides services such as passport renewal and labour permit legalization in Salalah, located about 1,100 kilometers from Muscat. Representatives from the Nepali Social Club, volunteers, and other Nepali associations actively participated in and supported the program.
Nepali workers currently employed in Oman without a labor permit from Nepal can now obtain one at the Embassy in Muscat. To do so, workers must create a profile in the FEIMS system, upload the required documents, submit an online application, and appear in person at the Embassy for biometric verification.
