Probe Committee formed to review charges against RSP President

KATHMAND FEBRUARY 5: An investigation committee has been formed to examine the charge sheet filed by the District Attorney’s Office, Chitwan, which omitted prosecuting Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane under organized crime and money laundering charges.
The case involves the embezzlement of savings from the Sahara Chitwan Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Charges were filed against 32 individuals, including Lamichhane. Of them, 20—including Lamichhane—face fraud charges, while 12 others have been charged with organized crime and money laundering.
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) formed a three-member probe committee to review the prosecution forwarded by the Chitwan District Attorney’s Office, citing flaws in the charge sheet that necessitated further investigation.
The committee is headed by Deputy Attorney General Gopal Prasad Rijal and includes Joint Attorney General Surya Raj Dahal, Joint Attorney General Ishwari Prasad Dhakal (Office of High Attorney), and Assistant Attorney Rudra Prasad Acharya as the member secretary.
