Agricultural exports worth over Rs 14.50 billion from Kakarbhitta

BHADRAPUR, FEBRUARY 10: In the first six months of the current fiscal year, agricultural products worth Rs 14.56 billion were exported from Kakarbhitta.
According to Chandreshwar Thakur, Information Officer at the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center’s Quarantine Office, the major export items included cardamom, tea, plywood and veneer, ginger, and amriso (broom grass), among others.
During this period, tea had the highest export value at Rs 6.82 billion, followed by cardamom at Rs 4.22 billion and plywood and veneer at Rs 1.91 billion.
Similarly, ginger exports amounted to Rs 261.3 million, amriso to Rs 497.4 million, cabbage to Rs 81.7 million, medicinal herbs to Rs 26.3 million, and lentils to Rs 15.5 million.
Thakur further stated that agricultural goods worth Rs 1.96 billion were imported through the eastern border during the same period.
The major imported items included millet, pulses, rice, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, garlic, potatoes, maize, and animal feed. According to quarantine office data, the import values were as follows: millet at Rs 109.57 million, rice at Rs 30.3 million, and fresh vegetables at Rs 182.3 million.
Additionally, fresh fruit imports stood at Rs 201.8 million, garlic at Rs 617.5 million, and potatoes at Rs 217.4 million, as reported by the quarantine office.
