Yashoda Foods objects to the publication of misleading news

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 11: Yashoda Foods Pvt. Ltd. has claimed that misleading information is being spread about its product Noodles. In a press release issued yesterday, the company alleged that false news reports about its products were being published, leading to contempt of court and defamation.
According to the company, the current trademark and label of the product have been registered under Class 30 with the Department of Industry, in compliance with prevailing laws. It further stated that trademarks currently in use have already been registered with the department on various dates.
Yashoda Foods had submitted an application (No. 098229) to the Department of Industry for the registration of the label for Current Regular (Rs. 20/- per 5-pack) noodles. However, CG Foods (Nepal) Pvt. Ltd. objected to this registration and filed a petition with the department.
The Department of Industry ruled on June 12, 2023, that CG Foods' claim was unsubstantiated and that the trademark requested by Yashoda Foods was eligible for registration.
As a response to the ruling, CG Foods filed a writ petition with the High Court and a joint bench reviewed the case. The bench on August 17, 2023 made a decision that since the judicial review of the initial trademark decision was still pending, the Department's decision should not be implemented until a final verdict was reached.
According to Yashoda Foods, the court also told the concerned parties to act as per the law. But, the company claims that this order has been misinterpreted, leading to the publication of misleading news in various media outlets.
There are false reports claiming that the sale and distribution of its products have been halted and that goods already in the market must be recalled, according to the company.
Yashoda Foods has also urged consumers not to be swayed by such rumours and continue buying, selling, and consuming its products without any concerns.
