Industrial Village in the pipeline in Siraha

Spanning 14 bighas of land, the village's estimated cost is Rs 4 billion

SIRAHA, FEBRUARY 11: Plans are underway to establish an industrial village in Laxminagar, Surunga Municipality-3, in Saptari district. Industrialist Birendra Neupane announced that the project, named Big Indus Padamnagar, will be developed within two years at an estimated cost of Rs 4 billion.

Spanning 14 bighas of land, the industrial village aims to boost local production and employment opportunities.

Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Jhalanath Khanal, laid the foundation stone for the project on Monday. Speaking at the event, Khanal emphasized the crucial role of industries in national development.

"This is a historic project linked to the country's progress and prosperity," he said, highlighting the private sector’s potential to drive economic growth. He further noted that such initiatives would help curb youth migration by creating employment opportunities within Nepal.

Company proprietor and hydropower entrepreneur Birendra Neupane stated that the industrial village is being established in memory of his grandfather, Padma Bahadur, who made significant contributions to the social sector. "We can build industries here in Nepal and provide jobs to our youth," he remarked, explaining that his decision stemmed from a desire to serve his homeland.

Once operational, the facility is expected to benefit a large number of people.

Among the planned industries, a pulp factory will be set up to produce fruit juice packets and pulp. During peak season, the factory will purchase 10 truckloads of mangoes daily from local farmers, ensuring fair pricing and market access for their produce.

Additionally, a cold storage facility with a capacity of 2,600 metric tons will be constructed to help farmers store and market their products efficiently.

In collaboration with Indian petroleum entrepreneurs, the project will also house a lubricant factory. Other planned industries include paint manufacturing, a solar plant, and glass and bottle production units.

Surunga Municipality Mayor, Geeta Chaudhary, expressed enthusiasm for the ambitious project, stating that it would generate significant employment. She also assured the municipality's full support for its successful establishment.
