Food aid to be provided to 3,000 jobless Nepali students in Texas, US

TEXAS (USA), FEBRUARY 13: Nepali students studying at various universities in Texas, USA, who have lost their jobs, are set to receive food aid through a community-driven initiative. Nepali social activists in the Dallas-Fort Worth area have launched the "Community Programme for Students," aiming to support approximately 3,000 Nepali students facing financial hardships.
General Secretary of the Nepali Society Texas, Bijay Bhusal, stated that the aid would include essential food items such as rice, lentils, oil, salt, and gram, sufficient to last at least a month. Over 700 students have already benefited from the campaign.
Students with vehicles can collect the food from the local Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center, while those without transportation will have the supplies delivered to their residences.
The initiative comes amid increased immigration enforcement under President Donald Trump's policy targeting illegal immigrants, which has impacted Nepali students. Daily police raids on businesses have led to warnings, arrests, and deportations for those working without legal authorization.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) USA, about 50,000 Nepali students are currently pursuing their studies in the US.
