Rs 10 million budget allocated for Tarigaun airport

KATHMANDU, MARCH 3: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has allocated a budget of Rs 10 million for Tarigaun Airport in Tulsipur, Dang.
According to Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City's Deputy Mayor, Syani Chaudhary, the ministry has requested the Ministry of Finance to allocate an additional Rs 990 million.
Established in 2011 BS, the airport currently lacks the capacity to accommodate large aircraft. It has a runway length of 750 meters, which, if extended to 1,500 meters, would allow 72-seater aircraft to land. At present, only 19-seater aircraft can operate at the airport.
Chaudhary stated that preparations are underway to initiate expansion work, as small aircraft operations have not yielded significant benefits.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli visited the airport a few days ago.
