With an investment of Rs 2 billion, it boasts a capacity to produce 75 metric tons of high-quality paper daily

KATHMANDU, MARCH 6: IME Group has launched Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries in Ramnagar, Gaushala Municipality, Mahottari District. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the factory on Thursday by unveiling a commemorative plaque. The industry, with an investment of Rs 2 billion, has a capacity to produce 75 metric tons of high-quality paper daily, including photocopy paper and notebook paper.

The production aims to meet domestic demand for paper used in education, administration, and other sectors, providing a local alternative to imports and supporting institutions like Janak Education Materials Centre. The industry has directly created over 300 jobs and indirectly benefited thousands, with more than 50% of positions filled by local residents and women.

Speaking at the event, IME Group Chairman, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, says, "This industry marks a significant step in Nepal's industrial growth." He emphasized the private sector's role in national self-sufficiency, economic growth, and sustainable industrial development.

He praised recent government policies aimed at creating an investment-friendly environment. He also addressed concerns over disruptions to the Pathibhara Cable Car project, emphasizing the need for stability to attract future investments.

"There should be collective efforts to prioritize infrastructure development and job creation, as it directly improves citizens' lives and fosters national prosperity. I urge political leaders and private sector institutions to work together toward these goals," he stated.

IME Group’s business priorities include investing in sectors that benefit the nation and support sustainable long-term growth, as seen with Nepal Pulp and Paper Industries.
