NEPSE drops by over 7.50 points
Among 13 sub-indices, only one records gains, while 12 sees declines.

KATHMANDU, MARCH 18: The stock market, which saw continuous growth in the first and second weeks of last month, began declining from the third week onward. Over the past 11 trading sessions, the NEPSE index has fallen on 10 occasions, with only one day recording an increase. As the benchmark index continues to decline, trading volume has also started to shrink.
On Tuesday, the NEPSE index dropped by 7.66 points, closing at 2,697.04. The total market turnover for the day stood at Rs 4.34 billion. While the market had previously seen an average daily turnover exceeding Rs 10 billion during its upward trend, the current figures have fallen below Rs 5 billion. NEPSE, which had previously surged past 2,900 in intraday trading, has now slipped back to the 2,600 range.
In today's trading session, among the 13 sub-indices, only one recorded gains, while 12 saw declines. The Other sub-index rose by 0.11 percent, whereas the decline across the remaining 12 sub-indices remained below 1 percent.
In terms of stock performance, Mithila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha saw the highest gain, with its share price rising by 9.96 percent, followed by Himalayan Power Partner, which surged nearly 10 percent. On the downside, Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha suffered the biggest drop, falling 8.21 percent.
In terms of trading volume, Himalayan Reinsurance topped the chart, recording a total turnover of Rs 321.1 million. Meanwhile, Ghalemdi Hydropower saw transactions worth approximately Rs 230 million.
