Dikshya Foundation holds Annual Meet 2081B.S.

KATHMANDU, MARCH 30: Dikshya Foundation successfully held its Annual Meet 2081 B.S. recently in Naxal, Kathmandu, bringing together key stakeholders to advance education, rural development, and sustainable agriculture.
Distinguished guests and key highlights
The event was presided over by Chairperson Soshreen Sharma, with Chief Guest Ram Bahadur Shrestha, Ward Chairperson of Neelkantha Municipality–11, along with special guests Daniel Lee Lenny, Founder of WWGPN, and Dr. Raju Kandel, Director of the National Goat Research Program.
Project Manager Prakash Dhamala presented the annual report, detailing initiatives in education, mid-day meal support, goat farming training, and environmental awareness. Dr. Raju Kandel highlighted the foundation’s role in empowering rural farmers, while scholarship recipient Jangmu Sherpa shared how its support helped her during crises, like COVID-19 and the earthquake.
Honoring Daniel Lee Lenny
A key moment in the event was the Honorary Certificate presented to Daniel Lee Lenny for his contributions to Nepal’s rural development. Recalling his childhood dream of visiting Nepal, he shared that when he was in fourth grade, he pointed at Nepal on a world map and told his teacher he would go there someday, but his teacher dismissed him, saying a poor boy like him could never go to Nepal. In 1990, he made his first visit and has been committed to Nepali farmers and students ever since.
He also emphasized the nutritional benefits of goat milk, calling it a healthier alternative to cow and buffalo milk.
Empowering farmers and strengthening collaboration
Chief Guest Ram Bahadur Shrestha praised the foundation’s efforts, particularly the Bandipur goat farming training, stating that the initiative greatly motivated farmers to pursue commercial farming, and expressed hope that such programs would continue.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Soshreen Sharma and a networking luncheon, fostering future collaborations.
A path to sustainable growth
The Annual Meet 2081 B.S. reaffirmed Dikshya Foundation’s mission to drive education, environmental awareness, and sustainable agriculture. With continued collaboration, the foundation aims to expand its impact and uplift Nepal’s rural communities.
