Flights to and from TIA adversely affected due to haze

KATHMANDU, APRIL 3: Flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport have been disrupted due to low visibility caused by haze over Kathmandu.
Jagannath Niraula, Chief and General Manager of the airport, stated that thick fog in Kathmandu’s skies over the past few days has significantly reduced visibility. As a result, aircraft are relying on Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) technology for landing and takeoff.
"Flights are being operated using IFR technology due to reduced visibility caused by the haze," Niraula said.
Although no flights have been canceled so far, he noted that visibility at the airport is currently at 3,000 meters.
Due to the haze, three mountain flights of Buddha Air and one flight each from Yeti Airlines and Shree Airlines were diverted to Bhairahawa and Janakpur today.
