Dr. Neelam Dhungana Timsina appointed acting governor of NRB

KATHMANDU, APRIL 7: Senior Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Dr. Nilam Dhungana Timsina, has been appointed as the Acting Governor. The Ministry of Finance handed over the responsibility to her following delays by the recommendation committee tasked with selecting a new central bank governor.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel assigned Timsina to the role in accordance with Section 27 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002
A three-member recommendation committee has been formed under the coordination of Finance Minister Paudel. The committee includes former NRB Governor Bijaya Nath Bhattarai and economist Bishwa Poudel. However, the recommendation process has yet to move forward, prompting the interim appointment.
