China Southern expands Nepal-China flights for 2025
Enhanced air connectivity between two neighbouring nations expected to boost trade, tourism

KATHMANDU, APRIL 11: With the arrival of the 2025 summer-autumn flight season, China Southern Airlines optimized its flight layout starting yesterday. The enhanced schedule is expected to elevate economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
According to the new schedule, China Southern will resume its night flights from Kathmandu to Guangzhou, operating daily from April through October. The scheduled departure time from Kathmandu is 23:30. Additionally, the departure time for daytime flights has been adjusted by 50 minutes, with the new departure set for 12:50. These changes are designed to improve connectivity and provide passengers with greater flexibility in planning their travel.
The frequency of daytime flights will vary throughout the season. From April 10 to May, flights will operate four times a week, on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. From June to August, this will be reduced to two flights per week, on Sunday and Thursday. From September to October, daytime flights will resume on a daily basis.
China Southern has also significantly increased its seat capacity for the Kathmandu–Guangzhou route this season. Approximately 45,000 seats will be available from Kathmandu to Guangzhou and over 46,000 seats from Guangzhou to Kathmandu.
Compared to the same period last year, this marks a 16.5 percent increase—over 6,000 additional seats—on the Kathmandu-to-Guangzhou route and a 39.9 percent increase—over 13,000 seats—on the Guangzhou-to-Kathmandu route. The airline emphasized that this substantial rise in capacity not only offers travelers more options but also contributes to deeper economic, trade, and cultural ties between the two nations.
The expanded flight offerings come at a symbolic time, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal and the celebration of the "China-Nepal Tourism Year."
