FNCCI pres urges migrant Nepali workers to invest in Nepal

KATHMANDU, APRIL 20: Chandra Prasad Dhakal, president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, called on Nepalis in foreign employment to invest in Nepal, saying there is immense potential here.
Addressing the first convention organized for the establishment of a multi-purpose revolving fund under the protection of Baglung Sewa Samaj, Qatar, held in Doha last Friday, President Dhakal said a false narrative has been circulating — that "there is nothing in Nepal" and "nothing has happened in Nepal."
"Spreading such false and negative narratives is a harmful trend," he said. "In reality, Nepal holds tremendous investment opportunities. Just as we work hard abroad, we can achieve great things by working equally hard at home." He added that comparing Nepal unfavorably with other countries in terms of development and technology without acknowledging its potential is illogical.
President Dhakal shared that the Nepal Development Company, with a capital of Rs 10 billion, was established to provide investment opportunities specifically for Nepalis working overseas. He encouraged migrant workers to invest through the company, which aims to pool scattered Nepali capital from within the country and abroad to fund projects in hydropower, tourism, industry, and other promising sectors.
He also expressed his appreciation to the Baglung community in Qatar for setting up the revolving fund as part of their commitment to social responsibility. On the occasion, he announced a contribution of Rs 1.5 million to the fund. President Dhakal was also honored during the event.
